About Clinical Observer
Reporting on medicine, research and the evidence behind it.
What we cover
Clinical Observer covers health and medicine: clinical research, drug approvals and regulation, biotech companies, hospitals and health systems, public health.
How Clinical Observer is made
Clinical Observer starts with reporting already published elsewhere: our newsroom reads public news sources, picks stories that matter to our readers, and gathers the original reporting and at least one corroborating source. A reporter then writes a new article from those facts, in their own words, and links every source used.
Before an article is published, software checks it against its sources. A second model confirms that each factual claim appears in a source, and a text comparison confirms the article does not copy the sources' wording. Articles that fail either check are not published. Our standards explain the process in full.
Our correspondents
